CHELAN -- The Chelan Athletic Department has named a 1987 graduate and the 2004 girls varsity basketball team to the Chelan High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Athletic Director Evan Reister made the announcement on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Greg Oules (Class of 1987):
“Oules’s athletic journey began at CHS, where he excelled in both football and wrestling, including a third-place finish at the state wrestling tournament his senior year,” said Reister. “His accomplishments didn’t stop there.”
As one of the nation’s top bull riders, Oules captured three high school state championships, qualified for nationals four times, and was a two-time Northwest Region College Champion. His accomplishments include three Columbia River Circuit Championships, a win at the prestigious Houston Rodeo, and ranking as high as 16th in the world.
“His incredible career also saw Oules competing—and winning—across Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Oregon, Canada, and Wyoming,” said Reister.
The 2004 2A Girls Basketball Team:
The varsity girls made history with an unforgettable 27-0 season, earning the WIAA 2A State Championship.
“Their unparalleled teamwork, skill, and resilience have left a mark on Chelan athletics,” said Reister. “Remarkably, half of the team’s rostered players went on to compete at the collegiate level, a testament to their talent and dedication.”
The purpose of the CHS H Hall of Fame is to recognize and preserve the legacy of those whose accomplishments in athletics have positively impacted the school.
“As we honor our Mountain Goat traditions and achievements of the past, we strive to inspire a culture of success and excellence for future generations,” Reister said. “To our inductees, your achievements have inspired not only those who watched you compete but also the many young athletes who follow in your footsteps. You have set a high standard of excellence and shown what it means to represent Chelan High School athletics and our four main pillars of growth mindset, integrity, accountability, and passion.”
Reister said the inductees’ achievements are more than victories or titles—they are reflections of hard work, perseverance, and a deep love for your sport and community.
“Your legacy serves as a beacon of inspiration, reminding us all that greatness is achieved through passion and commitment,” Reister said.
The 2024 inductees are invited to attend the boys’ basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 28, “where we hope to honor you during half time,” Reister said.
