Holiday Boutique

CHELAN - The Chelan Senior Center will hold its Holiday Boutique, bake sale and luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the center, 534 E. Trow Avenue. For vendor table info call 682-2712. Luncheon will be homemade potato and ham chowder or chili, with bread. Cinnamon rolls and coffee will also be available.

Holiday Extravaganza vendor table available

MANSON - Holiday Extravaganza sponsored by the Manson Apple Blossom committee has openings for vendors.  The bazaar will be held at the Manson Grange Hall on Nov. 24, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.  Email Linda Blessin at lblessin@nwi.net or call her, 687-5008 for vendor table signup. There will be lots of crafts for gifts and home: Jewelry, handmade soaps, card, jams, candles, crochet and sewing items, painting, art work, gift baskets, bake sale and much more. There will also be freshly baked blueberry muffins, pie and coffee.

Baked potato bar, bingo, and pumpkin spice thrown down 

CHELAN - The Chelan Senior Center will have a Baked Potato Bar and Bingo event on Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. There will be big baked potatoes with chili, cheese, ham, broccoli, sour cream and butter. Free Bingo will follow with prizes. Followed by dessert. Pumpkin Spice Throw Down: Enter your favorite pumpkin spice dessert: cookies, bars, pie, cake. Sign up sheet at the Senior Center. To RSVP for the Baked Potato Bar call Vita at 682-2712.

Story time Chelan / Manson Libraries

CHELAN - Story time is every Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Chelan Public Library located on Emerson Street. Join them for singing, dancing, clapping, music making as well as reading. It’s both fun and educational!

MANSON - Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. the Manson Community Library offers a story time for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers.  Join the group for a half hour of stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays and other activities.  For more information call the library at 687-3420.

Baby rhymin’ time

CHELAN - Baby rhymin’ time is every Friday at 10 a.m., at the Chelan Pubic Library on Emerson Street, for ages 0-3 years. Join them for singing, dancing, nursery rhymes, musical instruments, and story telling for babies, waddlers and toddlers.

Library Halloween Carnival

CHELAN - Chelan Friends of the Public Library will hold their 8th Annual Halloween Carnival on Oct. 20, 6-8 p.m. at the Chelan Public Library, 216 N. Emerson. Tickets can be purchased at the door. There will be Family Fun, Prizes, Eats, Treats and Costume Contest. Come out and support your local community and the Chelan Public Library.

5K Chelan Chase

CHELAN - Registration is  now open for the Chelan Chase which will be held Saturday, Oct. 20. This 5K chip timed event starts at 10 a.m. and is open to runners, walkers, wheelchairs, and strollers, with awards to top three finishers by age group. The first 200 to register will receive a free t-shirt. Race meeting Sat., Oct. 20, 9:45 a.m., Riverwalk Park Shelter with start 10 a.m. on the “Old Bridge”. Packet pick-up at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall Saturday 8-9:30 a.m. Open to all: runners, walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, families and teams. Divisions: under 8, 9-12, 13-19, 20-35, 36-50, 51-65,  66-75, 76 and over. Register, donate, collect pledges or buy a t-shirt to support this important cause at chelanchase.com.  Proceeds benefit the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Mammography Department and the Wellness Place to provide mammograms at no cost to uninsured/underinsured patients, and also supports the needs of North Central Washington cancer patients.

Chelan Fire & Rescue to host Open House at Station 75, free lunch, family fun

CHELAN - On Oct. 20, Chelan Fire & Rescue will host an Open House at the Station 75 located at 12041 South Lakeshore Road. This station is on the southshore next to the Yacht Club. This family fun event will run from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Community members are invited to come and enjoy touring the fire station, a free lunch along with the opportunity to learn more about the fire department and the many services it provides.  Lunch will begin at 12-noon.  Visitors will be able to see fire engines, tenders and brush truck equipment up close and visit directly with firefighters about the important and life saving work they do. For any interested in volunteering, Assistant Chief of Volunteer Services, Brandon Asher will be on hand to answer your questions about training opportunities, personal equipment and benefits. Special guests from Lake Chelan Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Chelan County Sheriff’s Department and Life Flight emergency air service will be available to provide information about the invaluable work they do and the role they play in an emergency situation. The community will also have the opportunity to learn what they can do to help in an emergency and how to quickly access these services. Everyone is encouraged to attend and bring the entire family. Meet “Sparky” and have your picture taken with him too.

Lake Chelan Community Choir Christmas Cantata rehearsal

MANSON - The Lake Chelan Community Choir will be rehearsing at North Shore Bible Church, in Manson on Sunday, Oct. 21, 1-3 p.m. for the Christmas Cantata: “One of Us”.  This will be the first of seven rehearsals. Music and rehearsal CD’s will be provided.  If you’ve not sung with the community choir before, but have been “thinking about it, consider yourself invited  to come and sing. Performance will be held on Dec. 7 and 8. For additional information, call director Marci Hale at 687-3791.

Pink Ribbon Classic - Golf Scramble

CHELAN - The Pink Ribbon Classic Golf Scramble  will be held Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Lake Chelan Golf Course.  All golfers are welcome to sign up with a partner or have one assigned.  Entry fee is $30, includes lunch, but not green fees.   Call the Pro Shop (509) 682-8026 or email Mark Lawrence mlawrence@cityofchelan.us for entry forms.

Cancer Support Groups

CHELAN - The Women’s Wellness Group, cancer support group, has two support groups. The second Tuesday of each month for lunch, with lunch provided by the Wenatchee Wellness Place, at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board Room at 11:45 a.m.; and the fourth Wednesday of each month at LaBrisa, at 5 p.m.  For more information, contact Anne at 682-8718.

Chelan Valley Hope 

to host free legal clinic

CHELAN - Chelan Valley Hope will host a free legal clinic on October, 24, 2-4 p.m.  This event is provided by Chelan-Douglas Counties Volunteer Attorney Services.  Appointment opportunities are limited – please call Volunteer Attorney Services at:  (509) 663-2778 to schedule an appointment and for more information.  Legal information is limited to non-criminal cases, but does include civil law problems such as housing/landlord issues, debt and family law such as wills and parenting plans.  

This is the first time this service has been offered in the Chelan Valley and residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.  Chelan Valley Hope is located at 417 S. Bradley Street, Chelan.  Please call Catharine at (509) 888-2114 for additional information.

CHELAN - Berean Baptist Church has a potluck dinner after the morning service on the last Sunday of every month. The church is located at 515.  E. Woodin Ave. There will be no evening service on that Sunday.

Trick or Treat Downtown, Costume Contest

CHELAN - Historic Downtown Chelan invites all goblins, ghosts, ghouls, princesses, cowboys and their Mummies and Deadies to join the fun and fill their bags with treats provided by downtown merchants from 5-7 p.m. Costume contests begin at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Emerson and Woodin. www.historicchelan.org
