Lake Chelan Ladies Golf - Tee time May 22

Posted

CHELAN - Thursday, May 23 was a perfect day for golf. Besides our usual and customary club  competition, we hosted this month’s competition of the Apple Valley Women’s Golf Association.  Our club’s lowest handicappers usually travel to other clubs to compete once a month throughout the season. Our team lost by only 2 strokes on Thursday and that was against some pretty stiff competition. One of the opponents had a 7 handicap so our ladies performed quite well against them.

Sixteen players and one guest turned out for our regular weekly competition. This week’s game was 3-4-5 (3 best par 3s, 4 best par 4s and 2 par 5s less 1/2 your handicap).

This week’s winners were:
Division 1:  First place, Joan Pierce, 28.5.
Division 2:  First place, Judy Johanson, 30.5.
Division 3: First place was a four-way tie between Nancy Parker, Karen Erickson, Bernie Rayner and Linda Parker, 31.
A lone birdie was made by Joan Pierce on hole 18. There were no chip-ins today so the pot will carry over to next week. That should be fun!

Next week’s competition (May 30) is Three Blind Mice. The pro shop will draw three holes after we tee off. Subtract those three holes from your gross score less your full handicap. Isn’t that what we would like to do every week?

Also, May 30 is the final match of our club’s Apple Blossom Tournament. The two lone survivors: Susie Clausen and Jaclyn Starr-Evans will battle for the title.

Tee time is 9 a.m., so please sign in by 8:30 a.m.
