Chelan Girls soccer creating a culture

Posted

CHELAN – This new school year the Chelan girls soccer have 30 players, making this the first time ever the school has both a Varsity and a Junior Varsity teams.

So far the Lady Goats have been working on their fitness, team building and ball control in order to compete against other teams in the league.

The team also has new coaching staff. This is Marina Williams first time as head of the girls soccer team and she being assisted by Amaris Longmire.

Both coaches bring great ideas to the team and have the same goal in mind. They want the girls to work hard and have great sportsmanship.

However, Williams and Longmire also want the girls to build a sense of community in the team. They want the girls to become a family and create a soccer culture among the community.

At the same time the coaches are teaching the girls “ownership” by allowing them to be more responsible off and on the field.

The team always has a positive attitude and are always reflecting on the different ways they can improve to be better, not individually but as a team.

The girls soccer team had their first home game at Mountain Goat Field on Saturday against Wahluke, winning 4-2.
