Posted

CHELAN - The Chelan wrestling team has been working hard since day one with new coach Wade Jordan and the rest of the staff.

“I am fortunate to take over a program with a rich heritage. We have a great group of returning wrestlers,” said Coach Jordan.

In addition to returning wrestlers, “a few new freshman in the program will be a good part of this season and the future of the program,” said Jordan.

Erik Alcala, Alvero Arteaga, JC Austin, and Skyler Gordon, the teams captains are great leaders on and off the mat.

With the early part of the season being a learning experience for the team, each wrestler has written down goals for themselves and the team. “We are using those as motivation. We want to continue the winning tradition,” said Coach.

At the moment, Coach Jordan and the team are developing a good relationship.  He describes the team as, “very competitive and intense in the practice room but at competitions they are a band of brothers.”

The Goats have been to two tournaments so far. “The first tournament was all about getting the rust off and jitters out.

On Dec. 7, we competed down in Connell and placed second as a team with three champions and four-third place finishes. Everyone wrestled hard,” said Jordan.

The main goals is to  take a group of thr guys to State.

Chelan will be hosting the first home league Duals on December 19 and a tournament on January 5.
