Lady Goats softball finish 3rd in Caribou Trail League


Charla Goodman tags a Cashmere runner as they reach third base. The Lady Goats advanced in the District 6 tournament after a 12-7 win over Cashmere.

CHELAN - The Chelan Lady Goats finished 3rd in District beating #3 Cashmere 12 to 7 then losing to the CTL league champions Cascade 11 to 10, ending the Lady Goats season.

In the first game against Cashmere, the Lady Goats came from a 6 to 4 deficit to score 1 run in the 5th inning, 3 runs in the 6th inning and 4 runs and in the 7th inning for the victory.

Sierra Shively was 3 for 4 at the plate with 4 stolen bases.  Charla Goodman and Lexie Gleasman were both 2 for 5 at the plate with Gleasman hitting a 2 run homerun in the 6th inning.  She also had 4 RBIs for the game.

In the second game against Cascade the Lady Goats broke a 3 to 3 tie in the top of the 5th inning scoring 6 runs with 2 outs.  Casey Simpson and Leanna Garfoot knocked in 2 runs each.

Cascade came back, scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning aided by 3 walks, a hit batter and a 2 run error.  Nayeli Zavala and Charla Goodman had 3 hits each with Mia Bordner and Leanna Garfoot adding 2 hits apiece.  Chelan out hit Cascade 14 to 9 for the game.

The entire team played with Chelan pride and determination.
