Manson volleyball team at a different level

Posted

MANSON – The Manson Volleyball team has been preparing for the new season since summer. They attended a volleyball camp at Washington State University and from there they have been practicing with high energy levels.

The team is quite young, a lot of freshman have joined this year. “I just wanted to get ready for competition,” said head coach Hayli Thompson. On Varsity there are four returning players and the rest are brand new.

“We are a different team that we have been in a lot of years, they are young, I want for them to set a standard of what we are doing moving forward. I want them to maintain their high energy, they are really close and they play well together,” said Thompson.

As a team, coach sees the girls going into post season and Districts, “I am positive we can do it, that will be fun to see what they can do.”

The chemistry among the girls is another great characteristic this team has.  “They have great chemistry with each other, they are also hard working  and they have great chemistry with the coaching staff.”

So far the team has had a couple of matches and after each match they are always reflecting on their performance and figuring out what they need to work on to be better the next time around.

Coach Thompson has a great amount of help this year with assistant coach Ellen Picton and three volunteer coaches, Leslie Burns, Brittany Siverstson and Javes Escalera. All of them bring great things to the team and work great together.

“Our team is really fun to watch,” said coach. Everyone is welcome to cheer on the Lady Trojans at each and every home game.''
