Chelan air quality affects weekend events - some canceled

Posted

Thursday Evening Farmers Market

After many vendors canceling, the Chelan Farmers Market will take a break from the afternoon smoke and will not held today. They will be back in full swing next week on the corner of S. Emerson and Wapato Streets, between the Riverwalk Inn and Riverwalk Park from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Lake Chelan Creative Arts Festival

Creative Arts Festival Chair Ronna reported on August 15 that the Creative Arts Festival for this weekend is canceled. This decision was made due to Chelan being affected by surrounding fire’s smoke. “We felt it wasn’t prudent to expose our vendors, volunteers, consumers and children to an outside event,” wrote Ronna on Facebook. A future rescheduling date is in the works.

Lake Chelan Slam ‘N’ Jam Basketball Tournament

As of August 16 at 10 a.m. the Slam ‘N’ Jam 3-on-3 basketball tournament is still on this weekend, August 18 and 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Don Morse Park. However, the terrible air quality could change things around for the event. On Friday August 17 at 9 a.m. on lakechelanslamnjam.com, a final word for the tournament will be posted.
