Chelan County PUD advances with Henderson site

PUD hears public comment

WENATCHEE – Prior to the unanimous decision to move forward with the Henderson site at the Chelan County PUD Commissioner’s meeting, Monday, Nov. 6 in Wenatchee, public comments were heard for one last say before site selection came to a conclusion. Public commentary included:
Alex Thomason, of Pateros – “There are cost projections that I feel are not complete … What is the estimated resell value of the second lot that Henderson is requiring purchase of? What is the cost of the expansion of Henderson Road? What are the expected easement acquisition costs? How much cash has the PUD reserved for payments to the owner’s whose properties have diminished in value, in other words there might be claimants who bring forward diminution value claims. These are homeowners who have purchased the property with the expectation of a view property … The Henderson location is a short-term fix.”
Kathy Branch, of Chelan – Henderson Road Resident – “I just want to remind everyone that all of us count, and if this was coming into your backyard like it is to ours, it would be just as important to you and it is to us.”
Corki Thoreson, of Chelan – “I want to implore the commissioners not to do this to us, this was my dream to have this property up there … the bright light, the constant hum, the industrial feel – it’s going to be just horrible for us.”
Carolyn Glossinger, of Chelan – “Speaking about voice and concern … really consider the Hellyer site, we over there, are not fighting you. No one is fighting you over there except for the overhead powerlines.”
