CHELAN – Mary Signorelli’s term as Chair of the Lake Chelan Community Hospital and Clinic Board concluded last Jan. 22, at their monthly meeting.

Signorelli had a few words to say to those present, before moving on to board elections. “I want to thank all the board members for putting up with me for the last three years and for allowing me to serve. I would also like to thank our care givers and care givers throughout the years, all the departments and everyone for working so hard …  I am not leaving, but I am just stepping down, I want to thank you for the time I have served, your support and trust has meant a lot. I feel like I have learned an awful lot and I am grateful for the opportunities and the challenges,” she stated.

Nominated for Chair of the board by Signorelli was Phyllis Gleasman. Gleasman has worked side by side with Signorelli the last three years and she is knowledgeable about what is happening in the hospital, which will make the transition from Chair to Chair a lot easier.

For Vice Chair position, Jordana LaPorte nominated Mary Murphy and Murphy nominated Fred Miller as Secretary. The board voted and by unanimous decision Gleasman, Murphy and Miller will fill in the board positions.

The commissioners were assigned to be part of the different hospital committees. It was decided to appoint Signorelli to the Facilities and Community committees, plus credentialing, Gleasman to Facilities, Affiliation/Partnership committees and med staff meetings, Miller will be part of the Finance committee and the Retirement Plan. In the Affiliation/Partnership and Quality committees will be Murphy and LaPorte will be in the Finance and Community committees and will also review warrants.

LaPorte expressed her concerns with the Facilities committee not reporting information in a timely manner back to the board.

It was clarified that the Facilities committee has to report to the board in a quarterly basis, the board will hear from them in February.

LaPorte also raised the question about whether or not someone has met with the architect for the new hospital. CEO Steve Patonai responded, “we meet with the architect last week,” they are working on putting something together to present to the board next month. “We are trying to get the footprint and the square footage that we like,” Patonai added. However, at the moment there is not concrete information to share.

Dr. Jennifer Snyder, took time off from her duties to go over the medical staff report with the board. Snyder highlighted on the success of the UW Residency program. On March 15, Match Day will take place, “we narrowed it down to 40 or 50 that we interviewed and they rank us and we rank them and see where we match.”

If matched, students will start their residency in 2020 in Chelan. “We are excited for the new hospital, for the new residency,” Snyder said.

Next month’s meeting for the LCCHC Board is scheduled for Feb. 26 starting at 1:30 p.m. in the LCCHC Board Room. To view the meeting’s agenda visit  https://lakechelancommunityhospital.com/about-us/board-of-commissioners/.
