New parking kiosks and a concession at golf course approved by council

Posted

CHELAN - The Chelan City Council meeting this past Tuesday, March 14 was brief, but there were a couple housekeeping items the council approved including new parking kiosks to help regulate parking for the Johnson Avenue parking lot and Lakeside Park and a concession at the Lake Chelan Golf Course.

The kiosk at Johnson will only be installed and utilized as an educational tool this summer until going into service in 2018.

“We will still be enforcing a 3-hour limit so nothing will change on that, it is just that next year it will still be a 3-hour limit with $1 an hour for parking,” Parks Director Karen Sargeant said. “You can still use the park, I want to be clear on that, you don’t have to pay to use the park, just park in the park. We’re not out for revenue, it will just equalize parking with Lakeside and Don Morse Park.”

Annual parking passes are available for purchase at the Chelan Parks office located at the entrance to the Lakeshore RV Park. The cost for City of Chelan residents is $10 and $25 for non-resident City of Chelan homeowners and Chelan Valley residents. There is a maximum of two passes per household.

A new food and beverage service is setting up shop at the Lake Chelan Golf Course as Leanne and Chuck Weathersby’s proposal to have Cgs On the Course Grill proposal was approved by council.

“Leanne is just so excited to get everything started, she was asking me before the meeting what I wanted her to do and everything,” Sargent said after the motion was approved. “(It) will be good to get someone going up there.”

The one year agreement runs from March 1, to Dec. 31, 2017.

The next Chelan City Council meeting is on March 28 at 6 p.m.
