Sunset Marina celebration raises over $3,200 for Chelan Valley Hope

Posted

HELAN - The sun came out and good weather returned just in time for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Sunset Marina.  Mayor Mike Cooney wielded the scissors and 250 or more people toasted with sparkling wine and learned about the various environmental protections that were built into the design and policies for the Marina.

Besides showcasing the beautiful new Clubhouse and all its indoor and outdoor amenities, the Saturday, May 26 Grand Opening celebration brought some good fortune for Chelan Valley Hope (CVH). Scott McKellar and his partners made available two slip rentals for the remaining months of this year.  These were auctioned off during the event and the two winners were Drew Copitzky and Gordon Rice.  In addition the Sunset Marina partners provided two top-of-the line stand-up paddle boards for raffle.  The lucky winners were Marvin Gellatly and Gary Davis. All the proceeds for the auction and the raffle items were donated to Chelan Valley Hope.  Scott has been on the Board of CVH since its early beginnings in 2008 and has found many ways to support our mission and promote our cause.  The total donation amounted to over $3,200 which will be put to good use aiding families and individuals in the Valley with emergency needs.
