What's up with the city?

CHELAN – With so many changes and happenings going on within the City, it can be hard to keep up with the flow of things. There are a couple important dates coming up that inquiring minds and eager bodies in the community won’t want to miss.
Monday, March 12 will be an organizational meeting for city-wide cleanup day (see Friday, April 20 below). The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at The Vogue. If you’re looking to take part in this community experience, you will have the opportunity to share ideas or pick an area you’d like to work on during cleanup day.
Town hall meeting
Thursday, April 19 will be the second town hall meeting. Beginning at 6 p.m. at City Hall, the topic for the meeting will be “lake water quality,” according to Chelan Mayor Mike Cooney. The meeting will have invited speakers on the agenda, whom will provide an educational base for how we, as a community, can keep our waters clean for years to come. “Recently, there has been a keener emphasis on keeping and improving our lake water quality,” Cooney stated in the meeting notice, “this will be a time to hear what is going on and learn what we all can do to preserve this precious commodity.” Town hall meetings are in dialogue format, allowing all members of the community’s voices to be heard.
Cleanup Day
Friday, April 20 marks the annual city-wide cleanup day. Members of the community and businesses alike will be working together to clean up the highway, main streets, parks and neighborhoods in our community. “This is a call to all citizens to take an interest in their neighborhood, the lake, trails, your city and join your community in making our town shine,” explained Cooney.
Free brush dump days
May 11, 12, 18, 10 will be free brush dump days at the Recycle Center in Chelan. “The purpose of doing this is for all residents to clear all possible fuels from their properties,” explained Cooney, “in advance of any possible fire season.” Keep this offer capable of reoccurring year after year by only bringing in possible fire fuels, and excluding grass clippings or normal yard waste.
