Lori Anne Sluder, 38, passed away at her home on June 14, 2017. Lori was born the daughter of Sam and Joan (Picken) Smith on August 10, 1978 in Yakima, Wash. Lori attended school in East Valley where she graduated in 1997. She met her future husband, Caleb, in middle school and were good friends. They were later married in 2005. Two sons followed, Preston and Jack, she also had a step-daughter, Madilyn, whom she loved very much.

Lori had a degree from the Seattle Art Institute in Fashion and Design. Fashion was her life when she wasn’t with her family or watching her children compete in sports. In recent months, she had started a successful retail and clothing line, LuLaRoe, as an independent consultant. Lori was a person who loved to travel, and spent as much time as she could at her grandparent’s property on Lake Chelan.

Lori is survived by her husband, Caleb, as well as her children, Preston, Jack, and Madilyn. She is also survived by her parents, Sam and Joan Smith, a brother, Sean (Anna) Smith and their son Karlis, her mother-in-law, Glenda Sluder, and brothers-in-law Zachary (Shelly) and Kainan, and her aunt and uncle, Jeanie and Gregg Craft. She is also survived by a loving extended family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents on both sides, as well as her father-in-law, Jack Sluder.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor the life of Lori on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at East Valley Foursquare Church (101 Butterfield Road, Yakima, WA 98901) at 2 p.m. Those attending the service are encouraged to wear bright cheerful clothing to honor Lori’s preference for colorful clothing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sam Smith for the Lori Sluder/Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund (established at Banner Bank to benefit East Valley High School Seniors), and sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936).
