Chelan Middle / High School Athletes of the week

Posted

CHELAN - Each week, coaches nominate Student-Athletes in their programs that excel in their sport that week. We would like to recognize our Student-Athletes for their efforts and appreciate them representing the Lake Chelan School District wearing the “Chelan” uniform.
Each Student-Athlete of the week winner will receive a “free cheeseburger, fries and drink” from B.C. MacDonalds. Thank you to Brent and Afni MacDonald for their support of Chelan Athletics and the Lake Chelan School District.
Great job all Student-Athlete nominees and winners
Chelan High School Nominees
 Hayley Fry - Cheer
She is the creative mind and dancing queen behind the Mountain Goat Mascot. Being the mascot, she is only required to be at practice 2 days a week, yet she shows up ready to work every single practice. She has been a crucial performer in all of the dances during the basketball season, she has learned every cheer, and she helps excite the crowd. Hayley has gone above and beyond her job as the Mountain Goat Mascot! - Coach Hanson

Bert Mendivil -
Boys Basketball
12 pts., 6 assts. vs Life Christian
10 pts., 5 assts. vs. Adna
8 pts.,  5 assts. vs. Cascade
Bert was a major contributor this past week and was responsible for some key wins for the Goats.  His floor-general leadership is an asset for our team.  Keep it up Bert!!!-Coach Pearl
 Skyler Gordon -
Wrestling
As a team Captain, Skyler has proven himself as a great leader and that is shown week in and week out. This was shown this last week at the Hoquiam Tournament. Our team was struggling the whole day, Skyler stepped up and challenged each one of his teammates to dig in and challenge themselves to not give up. We entered the 3rd round and Skyler stepped and lead the way. At the end of the day Skyler lead the charge and did it not only on the mat but also from the stands. Skyler walked away from the Hoquiam Tournament with 1st place medal and his team following him the whole time. –Coach Chambers
 JC Austin- Wrestling
Our 132 lb. wrestler JC Austin, has been a staple in the wrestling room not missing practice and show heart out on the mat. He started out tough then got turned to his back. His opponent had him dead to right, but for instead JC stayed calm and fought off his back. Before the 1st period was over JC was able to get an escape, down but not out the start of the 2nd period JC went for broke and it paid off as he secured a take down to a pin, at the end of the match JC got his hand raised to take first place.- Coach Chambers
 Matea Ivory –
Girls Basketball
Matea put together back-to-back great defensive efforts against Cascade and Okanogan to help power the Goats to League victories last week.  At Cascade, Matea was part of a defensive effort that held Cascade to 7 points in the first half.  Against Okanogan, Matea came off the bench in the 4th quarter to help the Lady Goats out-run Okanogan 15-6.  She was clutch from the line (she went 4 for 4) and the field with a baseline jumper to seal the victory.
She works hard and goes sideline-to-sideline with intensity.  She hit a huge shot and four free throws in the 4th quarter to seal the win versus Okanogan game.  She plays all 3 guard spots for our team and is a phenomenal teammate.  -Coach Nygreen
