OLYMPIA — In a tribute to U.S. Constitution Week, Secretary of State Steve Hobbs will unveil an extraordinary historical exhibition, the original 1889 Washington Constitution, at Olympia's Legislative Building. The event, scheduled for Thursday, September 14, is being presented by the Washington State Archives, a division of the Office of Secretary of State.

From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on September 14, the public will have a unique opportunity to view the remarkably well-preserved 1889 Washington Constitution in a secure display case within the Office of the Secretary of State. State Archives experts will attend to provide insights and answer questions about this venerable document, ensuring its protection through the presence of the Washington State Patrol.

Secretary of State Steve Hobbs expressed his profound pride in hosting this event, stating, "I am proud to be able to bring the foundational document of Washington's government out from the Archives into full public view to recognize Constitution Week. For more than 134 years, this constitution has guided every aspect of how our state is run. It's our history and so much more as well. It's an honor to host this opportunity for all Washingtonians to see what our state government is built on."
