WENATCHEE – Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 is officially Volleyball State Champions Day in Chelan County. The day is in honor of the three women’s volleyball teams in the county that took home state titles this year.

The Manson Trojans, Chelan Goats and Wenatchee Panthers won three out of the six division titles recognized by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.

The Board of Chelan County Commissioners read the proclamation in front of the Wenatchee and Manson volleyball teams at the Board of County Commissioners office in Wenatchee Tuesday morning. Manson Volleyball Coach Hayli Thompson accepted a placard of the proclamation on behalf of the team from County Commissioner Shon Smith. Commissioner Kevin Overbay presented each player with a commemorative Chelan County coin. All three commissioners shook the hands of every player, expressing immense pride in their hard work and success.

The Manson Trojans were the State 2B Champions this fall, historically claiming the school’s first state title in any sport. The Wenatchee Panthers won the 4A Championship title.

The Chelan Goats won their fourth straight title this year as 1A State Champions. Chelan’s volleyball team was unable to attend the celebration in Wenatchee, and were honored at the high school by County Commissioners on Dec. 13.
