Chelan Ranger District announces prescribed burn on Bear Mountain

CHELAN—The Chelan Ranger District has scheduled a prescribed burn covering 50 acres on the south side of Bear Mountain, extending into the Davis Canyon area. The operation will begin at approximately 11 a.m. today, Thursday, March 7.

Residents and visitors to the valley should anticipate visible smoke from the burn. The controlled fire is part of forest management practices to reduce underbrush and promote healthier forest conditions. Depending on weather conditions, the burning may extend into Friday.
