Chelan Wrestlers depart for State with fanfare and support

Posted

CHELAN - The Chelan Goats wrestling team, bound for the Mat Classic in Tacoma, received a spirited send-off on Feb. 15. The high school parade, escorted by Chelan County Sheriff's deputies and Chelan Fire & Rescue, wound through downtown Chelan and concluded at Morgen Owings Elementary School. The school's corridors echoed with cheers as MOE students lined up to give high-fives to the state-qualifying wrestlers. Among the athletes are freshman Maddoc Finch, an alternate in the 157-pound weight class, and Amiee Gordon in the 125-pound category, ready to step in if needed. Competing at the state level is sophomore Sebastian Cisneros, a District 6 and Regional Champion, and an All CTL First Team Wrestler, currently ranked 8th in the state. Cisneros enters the tournament with a first-round bye, thanks to his regional championship title. The competition kicks off Friday, Feb. 16, and concludes the following day.
