Ronald Dean Garton

Ronald Dean Garton, 89, of Milton, Washington, passed away on December 7, 2023. He was born on February 27, 1934, in Chelan, Washington, to Arthur and June (Clark) Garton. Ronald, known to all as Ron, had a fulfilling and diverse life.

He graduated from Chelan High School and later served in the Army. Ron then embarked on a career as a driver, mechanic, and then shop supervisor for the State Department of Fisheries, in Auburn, Washington. In addition to his professional endeavors, Ron also served as a volunteer firefighter and eventually became the fire chief of Milton, Washington. He was instrumental in building a new firehouse and acquiring a new ambulance. Outside of work, Ron enjoyed gardening, camping/geoducking, carpentry, mechanics and spending time with his family and friends. He possessed a remarkable talent for building and fixing anything that came his way. His skills were admired by all who knew him. Ron leaves behind a loving family.

He is survived by his children, Julia Sims (Eric), and Mitchell Garton (Lynne); grandchildren Necia Werner (Derek), Amber Luce (Casey), Brandon Sims, Allie Burke (Annamarie); and great-grand children, Aiden, Holly, Eva and Landon. He is also survived by his sister Geraldine Christie, and companion, Carol Ringus. Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn (Harn) Garton, his parents Arthur and June Garton, and his sister, Carolyn Dudley. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on April 21st, in Chelan.
