Manson Volleyball starts fast with two wins

BREWSTER - We have waited a long time for volleyball.  Manson opened their short season by traveling to Brewster for a double-header on Feb. 27.
Manson began the double header squaring off against Okanogan.  The Bulldogs just dropped down from 1A this season and were expected to be a big test for the young Trojan team.  Manson won a tightly contested first set 25-21.  Okanogan battled back winning the second set 25-18 before Manson won both the 3rd and 4th set to win the match 3-1.  Manson was led by Maycee Ward with 10 kills and Freshman Natalee Reyna 10 kills as well.  Senior Kendall Petre had 6 kills and 4 blocks.
In the second game of the night Manson played the host team Brewster Bears.  Brewster is the reigning CWB league champion and a regular state volleyball participant.  Manson came out hot and never looked back winning the first set 25-6.  The Trojans did not let up winning the second set 25-14 and the third set 25-13.  Maycee Ward again led the team with 12 kills.
Manson hosted Tonasket and Warden on Saturday, March 6.
The Trojans played aggressive volleyball in both matches, limiting their opponents’ offensive options, and were able to adjust defensively to keep the ball in play.
The team served well, passed well and kept the momentum on their side of the court and it was a lot of fun to watch.
