Chelan FFA sending 19 members to state convention in Pullman

CHELAN -  Chelan FFA will be sending 19 members to the 87th Washington State FFA Convention in Pullman on the campus of Washington State University May 10-14. Members have qualified to compete in a variety of Career Development and Leadership Development Events.   The First Year CDE teams were the last to qualify and they did so at the District VII First Year CDE in Pateros where the team of Ella Tshetter, Dee Lysiak, Bailey Heimark, and Ashley Sams earned a 4th Place banner and the team of Max Nims, Laura Montoya, Alondra Lopez, and Obed Diaz earned 5th place and as such berths into the State CDE.   

Ashley Oswald will compete in Prepared Public Speaking.  Ella and Dee will also compete in State Creed Speaking.  Alondra and Laura, will be joined by Ana Alvarez, and Andrea Hernandez in the first ever Spanish Creed Speaking LDE.  Stephanie Olivera, Jessie Oules and Taylor Boykin will represent the Chelan Chapter in the Agriculture Issues LDE,  and be joined by Carlos Vargas, Owen Oules and Ashley Sams on another Ag Issues LDE team.   The Meats CDE team will be made up of Henry Armstrong, Aislinn Davis,  Obed Diaz, Max Nims, Richard Heimark, and Carlos Vargas.   All the freshman in attendance will be helping out with the “Little Farmers Education Day”.   The Chelan Hall of Chapters exhibit will be manned by Bailey Heimark,  Stephanie Olivera, and Owen Oules.   The National Chapter Presentation will be made by Stephanie, Aislinn, and Richard.  

Stephanie Olivera and Jessie Oules will be receiving their State FFA Degrees,  Stephanie is also a finalist for the State Star in Placement Award. Jessie is a finalist in the Sheep Production Proficiency as is Kenny Reeves in Wildlife Management. Also receiving their American Degree Qualifying Candidate Certificates are Dane Schwartz, Ty Schwartz, Josie Gallup and Sarah Goyne.  The Chapter will also be recognized as a Superior Chapter, National Chapter Award Winner, and 100% membership award winner.
