CHELAN - Several 4th Quarter Road Biking Group members participated in three Cycle Chelan Bike events,  sponsored by Lake Chelan Rotary) on Saturday, June 25.
Most Members participated in the Cycle di Vino Event which covered 28.3 miles and included 1,127 ft. of elevation gain.  The riders started from the PUD Park located adjacent to Chelan High School and rode to downtown Manson via Highway 150, Swartout Road, Wapato Lake Road, Manson Boulevard, and Green Avenue.  From Manson Bay Park the group took a ferry across the lake to the State Park.  From the State Park the riders followed the South Lakeshore Road (Highway 971) to Highway 97A and then finished at the PUD Park in Chelan.  After the ride the members gathered for lunch at Vin Du Lac Winery.
Member Greg Feist participated in the Butte Blast Gravel Ride which involved leaving PUD Park and cycling 15 miles up the Chelan Butte.  The ride took place mainly on gravel roads and included approximately 3,000 ft. of elevation gain.
Member Raphael Mulin participated in the 50-mile Lake Loop event that included both shores of Lake Chelan along with an out-and-back to 25 Mile Creek.  Raphael missed a course turn on the north shore so he rode several extra miles traversing the hills north of Manson.
Member Scott (Scottie) McDonald was not able to participate in the Rotary Bike events because he was in Coeur d’ Alene participating in the Ironman (70.3 total miles) event.  The event included a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer cycle, and a 21.1-kilometer run.  He finished with an excellent time of 7 hours / 27 minutes.
The 4th Quarter Road Biking Group meets on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m., at Singleton Park in Manson.  In addition, the group schedules other rides that include the Wenatchee Loop Trail, the Chelan South Shore, the Chelan Airport/Antilon Creek and Brewster Wine Country.  The group usually rides 17 to 20 miles over 90 minutes with some occasional longer rides.  For more information contact Bob Fuhr at refuhr55@gmail.com.
