Alcohol suspected in fatal rollover crash near Manson

Posted

MANSON — A rollover crash on Swanson Gulch Road near Manson on April 6 left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:18 p.m. to the 1700 block of Swanson Gulch Road following a report of an injury collision. When they arrived, they found a small two-door convertible that had left the roadway and rolled down an embankment.

Investigators said two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt, and both were ejected during the rollover.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The second occupant, identified as 22-year-old David Rosas-Rodriguez of East Wenatchee, sustained injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor, and the crash remains under investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending autopsy results and notification of next of kin.

For a small community like Manson, news of a fatal crash travels quickly, often touching people who know the road, the place, or those involved. As the investigation continues, the loss marks another reminder of how quickly a drive on the valley’s winding roads can turn tragic.
