American Legion installs first Purple Heart Community sign in Manson

Posted

MANSON — The American Legion and the Manson Community Council installed the first of six Purple Heart Community signs in Manson, marking a new effort to recognize Purple Heart recipients throughout the year.

The first sign was placed on the front of Tapped Out Sports Bar. Organizers said the signs are intended to reinforce Manson's designation as a Purple Heart Community and encourage residents and visitors to honor Purple Heart recipients beyond the annual observance of Purple Heart Day on Aug. 7.

Tapped Out Sports Bar owner Todd Link, a veteran, stood alongside the newly installed sign during the installation. Link has partnered with the American Legion by offering his business as the host site for Manson's Purple Heart Day ceremony, scheduled for noon on Aug. 7.

In conjunction with the ceremony, Link will offer a 30% discount to veterans and their families.

"The American Legion is proud to partner with Todd and Tapped Out Sports Bar as Manson continues to strengthen its commitment to honoring Purple Heart recipients and remembering those who sacrificed their lives for our country," organizers said in a statement.

The sign installed at Tapped Out Sports Bar is the first of six planned for locations throughout the community. Organizers said the project is intended to make recognition of Purple Heart recipients a visible, year-round presence in Manson rather than limiting observances to Purple Heart Day each August.
