CHELAN — The Lake Chelan Valley Boys & Girls Club's second annual UW/WSU Celebrity Golf Tournament raised a record amount of support for youth programs during an event held June 25 at Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course.
The tournament brought together former University of Washington and Washington State University athletes, community members, local businesses and volunteers for a four-person scramble competition benefiting the Boys & Girls Club.
Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships for children and families who otherwise could not afford Boys & Girls Club memberships, summer camps, after-school programs, youth sports, transportation and enrichment opportunities.
"This tournament demonstrates what can happen when a community comes together for a common purpose," said Angela Collins, unit director of the Lake Chelan Valley Boys & Girls Club. "Whether participants wore purple or crimson didn't matter. Everyone was here to invest in the future of our local kids."
Celebrity participants included former Washington State standouts Michael Bumpus, Ken Bone, Clete Casper and Liberty Vea. Former University of Washington athletes participating included Trey Adams, Jack Westover, Nick Harris and Jenny Ehlers-Rombalski.
Following the tournament, golfers and spectators gathered for lunch, awards and a meet-and-greet with the athletes.
Organizers credited dozens of volunteers for assisting with registration, contests, raffle ticket sales, silent auction activities, setup, cleanup and hospitality throughout the day.
The organization also recognized Golf Committee Chair Kevin Erickson for leading tournament planning and coordination efforts, including recruiting athletes, securing sponsors, coordinating volunteers and overseeing logistics.
"This event simply would not happen without the incredible commitment of our volunteers, sponsors, and community partners," Collins said. "Their generosity ensures that every child has the opportunity to participate, regardless of a family's financial circumstances."
The Boys & Girls Club thanked its sponsors, including presenting sponsors 12 Tribes Casino, McNaughton Foundation, and Weinstein Beverage Company, along with additional businesses, hole sponsors, auction donors and individual supporters.

The event follows the inaugural tournament held in 2025 and established a new fundraising record for the organization. Planning is already underway for the third annual UW/WSU Celebrity Golf Tournament, scheduled for June 24, 2027, at Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course.
