CHELAN COUNTY — Sandra Arechiga and incumbent Clerk Marty Young are still in the lead for the four-way Chelan County Clerk race as more votes are tallied in the Aug. 4 Primary.

According to Wednesday afternoon counts, Arechiga’s lead has dipped slightly, from 39.12 percent to 38.83 percent (6,727 votes). Young, who was elected to the position in 2022, remains second in the lead with 30 percent of the vote (5,199 votes).

“I'm right where I was 4 years ago in second place after the primary,” Young said in an email to Ward Media.

Samantha Thompson, Records Administrator for Chelan County Clerk’s Office, improved half a percentage point since last night's preliminary results, earning around 380 more votes. Thompson currently stands with 16.61 percent of the vote (2,878 votes). Court reporter Charlene Beck’s status remains virtually unchanged, slipping from 14.46 percent to 14.42 percent.

The top two candidates will continue on to the November election. The elected candidate will serve a four-year term.

Arechiga has 12 years of experience working for Chelan County Clerk’s Office; she spent six years as Jury administrator and currently serves as a Family Law Court Facilitator.

Beck and Thompson did not immediately respond for comment.

The County Clerk is the administrative and financial officer of Superior Court; the clerk position is an Executive branch position. As an independent elected official, the Clerk reserves for the public unrestrained access to a fair, accurate, and independently established record of the opinions, decisions, and judgments of the court, according to the Chelan County Clerk’s Office.
