CHELAN – After a summer break, the Chelan Cancer Support Group will resume its monthly meetings on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bragg Room at Lake Chelan Hospital.
The group, founded nearly 20 years ago by Anne Brooks following her own cancer diagnosis, provides a space for patients, survivors, caregivers, and family members to connect and share support.
“This group is open to anyone,” Brooks said. “Whether you are newly diagnosed, going through a cancer journey, have been a thriver for years, or support a cancer survivor—please join us for this casual gathering.”
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch or purchase one from the hospital cafeteria next door.
Brooks said her goal has always been to ensure no one in the Lake Chelan Valley faces cancer alone. In addition to sharing experiences and coping strategies, many members build friendships that extend outside the group, meeting for lunch or walks together.
