MERIDIAN - We traveled well and beat an athletic Meridian team on the road. Our kids played a full game this week. Our defense created 7 turnovers and our offense was physical and hit some big plays when needed. Special teams was solid with a couple nice returns and Jp Perez kicked a couple field goals.   I’m proud of our players for stepping up this week for 4 quarters. We are excited for our home opener this week.

CHELAN - The Goats were coming off a long road trip to the west side where they played the Montesano Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 2 and had a tough loss of 5-0.  The next day (Sept. 3) they turned around and in less than 24 hours were on the pitch again playing the Tenino Beavers. The end of regulation resulted in a 0-0 tie.  With officials not being able to stay, the final stayed at a tie. An unofficial shoot-out occurred, where the Goats won by putting their first 4 shots in the back of the net.  Coming off of the weekend the Goats knew they would need to possess the ball and play simple.  Playing the simple ball and maintaining possession is a focus for the Goats this year.
This evening (Sept. 6) the Goats had their home opener tonight against the visiting Cle Elum Warriors.  The Goats came out strong bringing the ball down the field.  It was in the 9th minute when the Goats had attacked the end line and ended up with a corner kick.  Junior Jailyn Reinhart lined up to take the serve from the corner. She sent a beautifully struck ball that bounced in front of the box and off a few of the Cle Elum players for the opening goal of the season.  Just a few minutes later the Goats would again attack the end line and garner another corner.  Reinhart would again line up for another serve.  This time she would find her teammate Maya Cowan’s head.  Cowan would redirect the ball into the back of the net for a picture-perfect header goal.  The final goal of the game was created by Senior Macie Cowan getting past two defenders to slot a ball to the back corner of the net.  This gave the Goats the lead they would need for the game.  The rest of the game was a back and forth battle.
All of the Goats players who were eligible to play were given playing time.  Freshman, Avari Barker also earned her second shutout of the season.
The Goats traveled to Liberty Bell on Thursday, Sept. 7 to take on the Mountain Lions.  On Tuesday, Sept. 13 the Goats were at home against the Royal Knights.
