CHELAN - The Chelan boys came out determined on defense Tuesday night and forced 25 turnovers for the game. They held Cashmere's leading scorer to just two made field goals in the first half and they raced to a 49-31 halftime lead.
The Goats outscored the Bulldogs in every quarter and shot a blistering 15-28 from the three point line.
Chelan had four players in double figures including junior Dylan Jay with 33. The 6-4 guard nailed eight three point shots. They all came in the first three quarters of the game.
Junior forward Ryan Rainville picked up the shooting for the Goats hitting three, three-point shots during the final quarter and finished with 11 points.
Senior Braiden Boyd started the game fast for Chelan scoring 12 in the first quarter including a pair of three pointers on his way to 22 points.

Junior point guard Isaac Wilson led  the team in assists and added 11 points of his own while helping the Goats commit just 10 turnovers as a team for the game.
For Cashmere, Eric Erdmann scored 16 and Landon Baker added 14.
Coach Callero was very pleased with the defensive focus of brothers Ryan and Jacob Allen who were tasked with guarding Baker all  night.
"The Allen brothers were great- physical, and smart and determined. We definitely were blessed with some hot shooting tonight but the entire team's focus on defense was really the difference maker tonight. "
Chelan improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Caribou Trail league  play.
The Mountain Goats will next play two non-league games at the Freeman Tournament December 28-29. First  they will take on 3A Mead  and the next night, Chelan will play Freeman, the #4 ranked 1A, who is currently in first place in the Northeast A League.

CHELAN - The Cashmere Bulldogs traveled to Chelan in the third CTL matchup of the season for the Mountain Goats. The Goats have had a rough start to the season starting 0-5 overall coming into tonight’s game.
Despite the Bulldogs graduating last year’s player of the year they have a strong younger class that proved solid in their skill and execution against the Mountain Goats tonight.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead as they dominated the first quarter 18-5.
The Mountain Goats made some progress with the full court press in the second quarter which led to an eight point run but the Bulldogs tallied up 13 points in the same quarter.
The Mountain Goats fell scoreless in the 3rd quarter and struggled with the pressure of Cashmere’s defense as the Bulldogs added 16.
The Mountain Goats did not play their best game and were penalized deeply by it with a 19-60 point loss.
The Goats were led in scoring by senior Kira Sandoval with seven points, freshman Jayden Simmons with five points, senior Juliana Perez with three points. Brynn Hughbanks and Arabelle Finch each added two points.

WATERVILLE - The Chelan Lady Goats traveled to Waterville tonight to face the Shockers in a non-league match up. The Lady Goats are coming off of a tough loss against the Cashmere Bulldogs on Tuesday, Dec. 20
The game plan for the Lady Goats by Coach Nick Longmire was first and foremost don’t allow any shots from the perimeter, force the drive and help.
Fortunately for the Goats the score at the end of the first quarter was 13-7 in favor of the Goats despite the Shockers getting off several unsuccessful 3’s. After several timeouts reiterating the game plan of defending the three the Goats had trouble executing this. The Shockers had trouble converting their three point opportunities and the Lady Goats went into the locker room up by five at the half.
Again the coaching staff explained that the number one goal other than not turning the ball over against the press was to not allow the three point shot to be taken. Unfortunately the second half was a different story for the Lady Goats. The Shockers took just as many or more perimeter shots however the difference in the second half was they converted on five of their many three point opportunities which was just enough for the Lady Goats to succumb  to the outside shooting of the Shockers in their 7th straight loss with a final of 47-39.
“This season has been incredibly frustrating. The frustration is mostly around the fact that we are so much better than how we have played so far this year. I know the players are frustrated as well. I know they know that our potential is so much greater than our record. I have encouraged our team to stay in the fight. Keep getting better. Focus on the growth. This is what separates the women from the girls. Overcoming adversity is tough, that is why they call it adversity. What a great life lesson for us all. When our back is against the wall and all odds are against us and our choice is to give up or keep swinging, what will we choose? I believe in these girls and believe in our team,” says Coach Longmire.
All Lady Goats scores were led by Kira Sandoval with 13 points followed by Juliana Perez with 11 and Brynn Hughbanks with 10. Arabelle Finch added three and Jailyn Reinhart contributed two in the Lady Goats loss tonight.
The Goats travel to Kittitas in a two day tournament after Christmas on December 27 and 28.
