Chelan to host inaugural ‘Cultura on the Lake’ celebrating lowrider and Chicano car culture

CHELAN — The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce will host the first annual Cultura on the Lake on Saturday, Aug. 30, showcasing lowrider and Chicano car culture with an evening of music, art and community in historic downtown Chelan.

The event, sponsored by Cool Red Air, will begin with a roll-in and registration at 3 p.m. at Miller’s Auto Museum. Participants will then cruise “Low & Slow” through downtown at 4:30 p.m.

From 5 to 8 p.m., Woodin Avenue will transform into Chrome & Cultura on the Ave, featuring live music by DJ Mezzi, a curated vendor marketplace, a lowrider bike showcase, family-friendly activities, food vendors and live art by Yarely Sales. Entertainment is sponsored by Marcela’s Cocina Mexicana and Laguna Grill.

Guests 21 and older can visit The Sip Stop between 5 and 7:30 p.m. for drinks and a relaxed atmosphere.

At 8 p.m., the Cultura Awards, sponsored by JMP Collision Center, will recognize standout vehicles for paintwork, design and cultural expression.

An exclusive raffle will offer a custom lowrider bike, with tickets priced at $20. Proceeds will benefit Lowcos Car Club and the CAFÉ Youth Lowrider Bike Program.

Car owners can register at CulturaOnTheLake.com to participate and receive an event T-shirt. Admission to the avenue festivities is free for spectators.
