CHELAN — Chelan volleyball clinched its ninth consecutive Caribou Trail League title this week, then added two nonleague wins at home Saturday, Oct. 17.
Cataleya Phelps had 19 kills as the Mountain Goats swept Omak 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Omak. The Pioneers kept the first and third sets close with long rallies and tough serving, but Chelan closed out the match despite a slow start and some offensive inconsistency, according to a Chelan Athletic Department release.
Brooklyn Foyle ran the attack with 36 assists and added three aces. Faryn Huewe had seven kills and Gracelyn Roberts added six. On defense, Alison Horner had 16 digs and Jayzee Hughbanks added 12.
Head coach Abby Lewellen praised her team for winning on the road, noting the challenge of playing at Omak and the Pioneers' improvement throughout the season.
On Saturday, Chelan swept Meridian 3-0 in the morning and beat Lynden Christian 3-2 at midday. Lynden Christian came to Chelan a day after handing top-ranked Cashmere its first loss of the season.
The Goats are 3-0 in league play.
