City of Chelan launches new text alert system

CHELAN — The City of Chelan announced the launch of a new text-based alert system designed to provide residents and visitors with real-time emergency notifications and community updates.

The Chelan Community Alerts system allows subscribers to receive SMS text messages about severe weather alerts, road closures, and community announcements by texting 'Chelan' to 38276.

"We are committed to keeping our community informed and prepared," said Chad Coltman, Director of Communications for the City of Chelan. "Chelan Community Alerts is a fast and convenient way to receive essential information directly on your mobile device."

The initiative is part of the city's broader strategy to increase community engagement in 2025. Officials say the system aims to foster stronger connections with residents through accessible and inclusive communication methods, ensuring early and consistent involvement on key issues affecting the community.

Subscribers maintain control over their participation, with the ability to opt out at any time by replying STOP to received messages.
