CHELAN – The Lake Chelan Valley Boys & Girls Club has announced the lineup of former athletes and coaches who will participate in the second annual UW/WSU Celebrity Golf Tournament on June 25 at Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course.
The fundraising event, styled after the longtime Apple Cup rivalry between the University of Washington and Washington State University, will feature celebrity participants from both schools competing alongside community members in a four-person scramble tournament.
Representing WSU are former athletes and coaches Michael Bumpus, Ken Bone, Clete Casper, Ken Collins, Keith Collins, MK Bruce, Rob Treece, Ken Emmil and Davin Harmeling.
UW celebrity participants include Jack Westover, Nick Harris, Shane Pahukoa, Andrew Peterson, Todd Johnson, Justin Glenn, Trey Adams and Jenny Ehlers-Romple.
The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course. Registration costs $200 per golfer or $800 per foursome.
In addition to the 18-hole tournament, participants will compete in a variety of on-course contests, including closest-to-the-pin, long drive, straight drive, target drive, a putting contest and a “Happy Gilmore Drive.”
Following play, the event will shift into an afternoon luncheon beginning at 2 p.m. that is open to the public. Attendees will have opportunities to collect autographs and take photos with celebrity guests before the event concludes with an awards ceremony and silent auction.
Organizers said the annual tournament serves as a major fundraiser for the Lake Chelan Valley Boys & Girls Club, with a goal of raising $50,000 this year. Proceeds support youth scholarships, summer camps and recreational programs for local children.
According to organizers, no child is turned away from club programming because of financial circumstances.
Business sponsorships and player registrations are still available. More information, registration details and sponsorship opportunities can be found at Lake Chelan Valley Golf Tournament registration page.
