Golf Binge Members travel to Oregon - play five courses

REDMOND, OREGON - The 2023 Golf Binge members traveled to Redmond Oregon from September 5^-10 and the group played Crooked River Ranch, River’s Edge, Juniper, Black Butte (Glaze Meadows) and Eagle Crest (Ridge) golf courses.  The members were all from the Chelan/Manson area except for Don Valentini (An Original Golf Binge Member) who traveled from Ashland.  The golfers competed for daily and weekly awards.

Matt Froman was the winner of the “Wold Trophy” recognizing the golfer with the Lowest Weekly Net Score.  The Annual Wold Memorial Trophy is named in honor of longtime member Larry Wold.

Don Valentini had the Lowest Weekly Gross Score.  Bob Matson and Don Valentini recorded the second and third Lowest Weekly Net Scores.  Scott McDonald and Bob Matson were winners of the Annual Group Putting and Chipping contests, respectively. 

At Crooked River Ranch, Scott McDonald and Ray Wilson won the Team Fewest Putts competition.  Tom Fagerholm and Bob Matson recorded the Team Low Net Score.  Lance Stark was awarded the Long Drive Prize, Don Valentini shot the Lowest Gross Score, and Bob Matson reported the Individual Lowest Number of Putts and Low Net Score.

Playing at River’s Edge, Matt Froman and Bob Matson were victorious in the Stableford Game, Ray Wilson and Scott McDonald earned “Closest to the Pin” wins and Tom Fagerholm prevailed in the “Closest to the Pin Second Shot” contest.

The Juniper results had Scott McDonald and Bob Matson recording the Lowest Best Ball Team Score, Lance Stark again posting the Longest Drive, Bob Matson having the Lowest Number of Putts, Scott McDonald and Don Valentini making Chip In’s, Matt Froman and Tom Fagerholm winning “Closest to the Pin” competitions, and Matt Froman scoring the Low Net Round.

On the Black Butte Glaze Meadows course, Ray Wilson and Bobby (Bart) Aldrich captured the Team Pink Ball Event, Don Valentini shot the Lowest Gross Score, Matt Froman and Ray Wilson took home the “Closest to the Pin” awards, and Ray Wilson was proud to earn the “Most Trees Hit” trophy.

The last day at Eagle Crest, Don Valentini and Matt Froman combined to win the Low Net Team contest.

Special guest Bobby (Bart) Aldrich joined the group for golf at Black Butte golf course.  During and after play at Eagle Crest golf course, Bobby and Ellie Aldrich treated the group to beverages, a barbeque lunch, competitive card games and college football at their home.

Binge Members that were not able to participate this year included Darrell Richards, Chuck Rhoden, Bob Ludeman, Bob Lindeman and Ron Hanken.
