Lake Chelan Health and Wellness Foundation scholarship applications due April 7

CHELAN — The Lake Chelan Health and Wellness Foundation has announced that applications for its 2025-26 college scholarships are now being accepted, with a submission deadline of Monday, April 7. Interested students can apply online and submit their applications to foundation@lchealthwellness.com.

Among the foundation's success stories is Karen Munguia Rodriguez, a third-year scholarship recipient who exemplifies the program's impact on local students pursuing careers in healthcare.

"Lovely inside and out, Karen Munguia Rodriguez is a 3rd year -- first-generation college student and very proud of her heritage. She is pursuing a career in public health, inspired by health issues she herself had gone through and because it was difficult to diagnose. She spent almost a year working with doctors to identify and manage her health problem. But she did, and now she is ready to move forward," said Vita Monteleone, Director of Community Relations at Lake Chelan Health & Wellness Foundation.

Rodriguez's personal health journey has influenced her academic interests and future aspirations. "One of the key items she is interested in is research. Because of her own situation, she believes that if there had been more research at the time, the doctors might have been able to diagnose her illness sooner. She is also interested in furthering her Public Health education and applying to the Physician Assistant (PA) program," Monteleone added.

A local student committed to her community, Rodriguez "loves the Lake Chelan Valley and, upon completion of her studies, plans to be right back here working to make our valley a healthier place," according to Monteleone.

As a three-time recipient of the foundation's scholarships, Rodriguez represents the type of dedicated healthcare student the foundation aims to support through its annual scholarship program.

The Lake Chelan Health and Wellness Foundation encourages all eligible students to apply before the April 7 deadline.
