LAKE CHELAN LADIES GOLF CLUB TEE TIME – JUNE 22, 16

Posted

June 23, 2022

CHELAN - They say golf is mainly played on a five-and-a-half inch space… the space between your ears. Not sure why that is so difficult to access as you’re swinging a club but at least it’s fun to do on a beautiful summer day. Twenty-four women had fun in the sun last Thursday playing the game: All 4s (your gross score of all par 4s less ½ your handicap).

Division 1: First Place: Linda Reister, 40.5.

Division 2: First Place: Sherry Ochsner,  45. Second Place was a tie between Karen Holst and Linda Hahn, 45.5.

Division 3: First Place: Carol Giffin, 45. Second Place: Judy Johanson, 45.5.

Sherry Ochsner made the lone chip-in which was a birdie on hole 7.

After golf we had a club meeting where we discussed a couple upcoming tournaments. Our Ladies Invitational will be held September 15 and is our club’s best opportunity to generate funds toward our scholarships awarded each year. This year we were proud to award 4 scholarships totaling $5,200. We are actively soliciting for sponsors and donations once again.

Competition on June 30 will be is 3-4-5 (gross score of 3 par 3s, 4 par 4s, and 2 par 5s less 1/2 your handicap). Our tee time is 8:30 a.m.; please check in by 8 a.m.

We were a sea of soaked shoes and wet gloves for the first eight holes or so then the sun came out and dried us all off. It turned out to be quite a fabulous day of golf for 18 members and one guest.

Our competition was Medal Play (low gross and net of field and low net by division).

Low gross of field: Ann-Britt Gagnon, 101.

Low net of field: Barb D’Ettorre, 70.

Division 1: First Place was a tie between Joan Carlson and Jodi Whiteman, 82.

Division 2: First Place: Sherry Ochsner, 77. Second Place was a tie between Sherry Fisk and Debbie Honsberger, 79.

Division 3: First Place, Carol Giffin, 71. Second Place was a tie between Joni Dedo and Karen Erickson, 74.

There were no birdies but Tracy Zembruski made the lone chip-in on hole 18.

Approximately 12 ladies from Lake Chelan participated in the 50th Ladies Invitational at Leavenworth on Wednesday.  Their Ladies Club put on a wonderful tournament including wine tasting Tuesday evening at Silverado Winery and a lovely lunch under tents on the 18th fairway with lots of raffle prizes.  Four Chelan ladies won either low gross or net in their flights, and others placed, and we also had KP and Long Drive winners.  Some raffle prizes and wine also came back with our ladies to Chelan.  Much appreciation to our hosts, the Leavenworth Ladies Golf Club for a fantastic tournament including lots of baby fawns and a bear.\
