Lake Chelan Men’s Golf Association awards $12,000 in scholarships to local graduates

CHELAN — The Lake Chelan Men’s Golf Association has awarded $12,000 in scholarships to eight graduating seniors from Chelan and Manson high schools, continuing its commitment to supporting local youth pursuing education beyond high school.

With this year’s awards, the Association has provided more than $30,000 in scholarships over the past five years. The annual scholarships are open to all graduating seniors enrolling in college, university, or trade school programs.

The 2025 scholarship recipients were recognized during their respective Senior Awards ceremonies on June 2.

The scholarship program is funded primarily through the Association’s annual Apple Cup Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will take place July 19–20 at the Chelan Municipal Golf Course and features a two-person team format: a best ball competition on Saturday and a scramble on Sunday.

A committee composed of John Hancock, Doug Rowand, Bob Matson, Bill Fenton, Eric Lorenz, Tom Fagerholm, Gary Searle, Gill McKinnie, Tom King, and Raymond Wilson selected this year’s recipients.

“These scholarships are made possible thanks to the generosity of local sponsors and the incredible community support behind the annual Apple Cup Golf Tournament,” the Association stated in a release. “This is a legacy that far outdrives any trophy.”
