CHELAN — A local tire company is helping keep community programs moving by donating a set of tires to support youth transportation needs in the Chelan Valley.
Last week, Les Schwab Tire Centers donated and installed six new tires for the Lake Chelan Boys & Girls Club, helping ensure children can safely travel to activities, educational programs and community events. The club van, donated last year by Link Transit, is now ready to roll for many more miles.
Representatives from Les Schwab said the donation was about more than tires.
“We believe strong communities start with supporting kids,” said a spokesperson for Les Schwab. “The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe, positive environment for so many young people, and we’re proud to help in any way we can.”
The Boys & Girls Club serves hundreds of children and teens throughout the Chelan Valley and beyond, offering after-school programs, mentorship opportunities, sports, academic support and leadership development. Reliable transportation plays an important role in helping the organization carry out its mission.
Club staff said they were grateful for the donation, noting that vehicle maintenance costs can be a significant expense for nonprofit organizations.
“This generous gift helps us continue serving families throughout our community,” said Unit Director Angela Collins. “Support from local businesses like Les Schwab allows us to focus more resources directly on the kids we serve.”
The partnership highlights collaboration between local businesses and nonprofits aimed at strengthening the community. Club officials said contributions like the tire donation help ensure programs remain accessible and impactful.
