Local investor group acquires Tsillan Cellars

CHELAN — Tsillan Cellars, a Lake Chelan winery founded more than 25 years ago by Dr. Bob Jankelson, has been acquired by a group of local investors led by Manson residents Ronan and Gillian Walsh.

The transaction became effective June 30 and includes the Tsillan Cellars estate and winery operations in Lake Chelan, Sorrento’s Restaurant and the winery’s tasting room in Woodinville. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Jankelson, who founded the winery and developed it into one of the region’s best-known wine destinations, will remain involved with the business as an ambassador. According to the announcement, he will continue working with the winery team, wine club and community.

“It was my vision 25 years ago to create a truly exceptional wine destination on the South Shore of Lake Chelan,” Jankelson said. “Over the years, my team and I created a reputation for outstanding wine and food hospitality, and when I was introduced to Ronan and Gillian, I knew Tsillan would continue to thrive in their good hands. I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful support of the community, staff, and loyal guests that made the vision a reality. Thank you.”

The new ownership group is led by Ronan and Gillian Walsh, who have lived in Manson full time since 2020. Ronan Walsh serves as a commissioner and volunteer firefighter with the Manson Fire Department and coaches track at Manson High School. Gillian Walsh oversees communications for the fire department and has worked in local wine tasting rooms, according to the announcement.

“This valley became home for us,” Ronan Walsh said. “Tsillan Cellars is one of the most beloved wine destinations in the Pacific Northwest, and it is right here in the community where Gillian and I are raising our family. We are not coming in to change what Dr. Bob built. We are here to honor it, invest in it, and steward this land and this winery for generations to come.”

The announcement said the existing winemaking team, tasting room operations, restaurant, events and wine club will continue under the new ownership. The investor group also stated its intention to maintain continuity at the winery while supporting its long-term operation.

Tsillan Cellars was founded by Jankelson and has become a prominent part of the Lake Chelan wine industry. Both Jankelson and Walsh expressed support for a smooth transition and the continued operation of the winery under local ownership.
