Louis Leroy Sorensen
Louis Leroy Sorensen was a loving a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He passed away November 4, 2023, after a short illness. He was born October 7, 1931, in Brewster, Washington, to Louis Peter Sorensen and Ruth Bertram Sorensen.
He attended Okanogan and Manson grade schools, before graduating from Manson High School, in 1949. He went to the Commercial Trade Institute in 1950. Leroy and Vera were married on Christmas Eve, in 1952. They traveled across the United States with the U.S. Air Force, spending time in Colorado, Texas, and Maine. During his time in the service, he logged 2,000 hours of flying. After a four-year enlistment, they made their journey home and purchased family property on Stayman Flats in Chelan, Washington. There, they raised their five children: Mike (Marilyn) of East Wenatchee, Washington, Terry (Jesse) of Mexico, Gerry of Chelan, Washington, Lori of Entiat, Washington, and Kelly (Carrie) of Entiat, Washington. They continued to grow apples until their retirement, in 2006, when they moved to Entiat, Washington. Leroy and Vera’s home was always a safe and welcome place to anyone who visited. It was often filed with family, friends, and neighbors. LeRoy was mechanically inclined. It was well known that he was able to reassemble anything he had taken apart. Leroy and Vera enjoyed many years square dancing with the Columbia River Twirlers, and were active with the Entiat Grange and Senior Center. Leroy’s greatest joys were his children and grandchildren.
Leroy is survived by his five children; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren: and siblings: Roger, Karen, and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Vera; siblings: Saunder, Doris, and Carolyn; and grandson, James.
