Manson Grange honors Norm Manly for leadership of youth program

Posted

MANSON — The Manson Grange recognized Norm Manly during its July meeting for his leadership and dedication to the Manson Grange Youth Fairs Program.

"At our July 28 meeting, we had the privilege of honoring Norm Manly for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the Manson Grange Youth Program," Manson Grange board member Debbie Conwell said.

Conwell said what began as an investment in local youth has grown into a successful program through Manly's vision and commitment.

During the meeting, Debbie Fisch, representing Family Living at the Washington State Grange and the Pomona Beehive Grange in Wenatchee, presented Manly with a plaque recognizing his achievements and service.

The evening also included a celebration of Manly's birthday.

In accepting the award, Manly thanked those who have supported the program and expressed special appreciation for the youth participants.

The Manson Grange Youth Fairs program gives students in kindergarten through eighth grade an opportunity to participate in county fairs by entering projects or showing animals. The program is similar to 4-H and helps prepare participants for involvement in Future Farmers of America programs during high school.

Youth members may participate in the North Central Washington Fair in Waterville in August, the Chelan County Fair in Cashmere in September, or both.

Youth Fairs meetings are led by youth members and are held at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the lower level of the Manson Grange Hall.
