Manson High School Varsity Soccer

Manson struggling amid Covid-19

Posted

MANSON – Head coach, Gilberto Romero, is in his fifth season as head coach and is assisted by Jesse Villalobos, who also has coached for five years.

Romero is struggling with this season as Covid-19 protocols have significantly hindered the Lady Trojan’s ability to play. With a 2-7 record, a roster of 17 and six athletes out, two games were cancelled: September 30 and October 2.
Last season the Lady Trojan’s were 3-6 and this year they have their eye on Okanogan as the team to beat. This season’s turnouts are down from previous years with nine returning players and eight new players.
I asked Coach Romero if he had any standouts this year and his reply was Senior, Raven Pope. Romero also says the team has not seen a full set of starters in any game yet.
Team Members this year include: seniors Raven Pope (#17), Paige Schoenwald (#11), Emely Valencia (#9), Jessica Perez (#6) and Ana Maria Villa (#19); juniors Ceydi Torres (#14), Vanessa Sanchez (#16), Carolina Garcia (#10), Kate England (#18) and Alondra Serrato (#0/#1); sophomores Lexi Cesar (#15), Carla Perez (#7) and Giselle Lopez (#13); freshman Addison Richmond (#5), Bethzy Quirarte (#3) and eighth graders Yulitza Cesar (#20) and Nefertitis Zarate (#12).
