Manson queen to be selected Jan. 27

Dioci Cervantes
Dioci Cervantes is the daughter of Francisco and Leticia Cervantes. She has three brothers, Angel, Alberto and Feliciano.
Dioci has been on the honor roll throughout high school, received a Certificate of Citizenship and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has received a varsity letter in softball (3 years) and cheer (2 years). She has played basketball 2 years and volleyball 2 years. She is president of the new Spirit Club, Me2We 3 years and currently secretary, and the Pink Ladies Glove Club- a new boxing club. Dioci was on the Knowledge Bowl team and went to state last year. She is the ASB Secretary this year and in the Manson High School marching band as an avid flute player.
Dioci’s outside of school interests are her family, reading and playing her flute. She attended the week long trek through the desert of Washington, is president of her Laurel class at church, and Youth Leader for girls camp.
Dioci said that: “I would like to be a part of Apple Blossom because it would offer once in a lifetime fun experience before graduating. I would also like to be more involved in the community, in assisting others and being of service.”
Dioci’s goals to attend a four-year university in Idaho for one year then serve a mission. After her mission she would return to continue her studies. She doesn’t have a favorite TV show, instead she tries to focus on other things throughout her day. Her favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice, Tigers Curse series and The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Alyssa La Mar
Alyssa La Mar is the daughter of Brett and Beverly and the late Sheri La Mar. She has two brothers, Jared and Bryce.
Alyssa is active in sports. She has played volleyball for four years- going to the State Tournament in 2016 and receiving the Sportsmanship Award. She played basketball all four years of high school. Last year she was a Captain of the team. She was on the track team for three years. Alyssa is a member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) for 3 years. She is a member of FFA four years and an officer for 3 of those years. She is a member of National Honor Society and on the academic honor roll for four years. She was class president in 2015-16 and ASB Treasurer last year. This year Alyssa was Chelan County Fair Ambassador.
Outside of school, Alyssa enjoys playing the guitar and piano, singing, reading and doing her nails. She enjoys mission trips, boating, snowmobiling with friends and camping at Lucerne. Alyssa raises pigs. She loves animals and children.
In Alyssa’s words: “The purpose of Apple Blossom is to have a group that represents the community positively and accurately. I have looked up to past royalty as I’ve grown up and aspired to be like them. I believe that I can positively represent my community with honesty, integrity and enthusiasm.”
Alyssa plans to attend Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. to get her Pre Med Degree then move on to Washington State University to become a pediatrician. She plans to come back to Manson to work inside the valley. Alyssa’s favorite TV show is The Office and her favorite novel is Ender’s Game.

Celina Mendoza
Celina Mendoza is the daughter of Jose and Maria Mendoza. She has three brothers, Omar, Oscar and Carlos and a sister, Erica.
Celina played volleyball all four years, was named Most Inspirational her freshman and sophomore years, Honorable Mention her junior year, and Captain her senior year. She was awarded the Volleyball Coaches Award her sophomore year and Volleyball 2nd Team All-League this year. She played basketball earning the Most Improved Award her freshman year, the Shannon Clark Award her sophomore year, and Honorable Mention her junior year. She also has been Football Stats Keeper all four years of high school. Celina has been on the honor roll and a member of National Honor Society. She belongs to FFA, Me2We serving as vice-president last year and is currently president. Celina was the ASB Media Specialist, Class Secretary, and President. She was a Math Night volunteer, as well as Manger Mall, Winterfest, Food Bank, Health Screening and Pig Jig Fun Run. Celina has 25 in-Class College Credits.
Celina’s outside interests are reading, listening to music, spending time with her family and playing sports.
In the words of Celina: “It would be an honor to represent my community as a strong, kind and caring role model, as well as a trustworthy mentor for the younger kids. Growing up in this community, the genuine and endless amount of support has made me the young lady I am today.”
Celina plans to attend Gonzaga University to study law and pursue her dream career as an attorney, then one day work her way to the Supreme Court. Her favorite TV show is Riverdale and favorite novel is The Giver.

Addi Torgeson
Addi Torgeson is the daughter of Allan and Nya Torgeson. She has four brothers Conner, Grant, Rex and Lucas and a sister, Afton.
Addi has been on the honor roll throughout high school. In 2017 she was National Merit Scholarship Commended Student and received the Citizenship Award. In 2016, Addi received the Most Outstanding Woodwind, and was in the Olentangy, Ohio High School Marching Band for 2 years, the Symphonic Band and also Orchestra. In Manson, she is in the Manson High School band and Jazz Band playing the saxophone. Addi played on the Junior Varsity Basketball team 2 years and ran Cross Country this year. She is a member of the Me2We Club and the Knowledge Bowl team and went to state last year. She is currently President of Associated Student Council, representing Manson in our local schools. She served as vice-president last year. Outside of school, Addi loves to read and write. She also loves music. Addi plays the piano (10 years), violin (7 years), clarinet (6 years), and participated in the Omak Community Orchestra last year. She has sung in her church choir since 2012. Addi is interested in photography since she started taking pictures the last two years. Last summer Addi had a trek experience through the desert of Washington for a week. She serves on a Youth activity committee to plan church activities for hundreds of youth.
In Addi’s words: “It would be an honor to be a Manson Apple Blossom Royalty member to be able to represent the town and also give back to this community; since coming to Manson I have been treated like family and I want to return the love that has been shared with me.”
Addi plans to graduate from the nursing program at BYU and pursue a career in oncology nursing. She also plans to minor in English. In addition to college, Addi plans to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her hope one day, is to become a wife and mother and raise a family. Addi doesn’t watch TV much, but enjoys the Movie ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ Her favorite novel is Jane Eyre.
