Manson School District receives over $600,000 for basement repairs

Posted

MANSON Manson School District has received preliminary approval for emergency repair grant funding for the Elementary School basement, pending passage of a board resolution at the April 29 meeting.

The District’s grant application included a request for engineering and design to address the underlying water issues that led to basement flooding, implementation/construction of that design, and repair of the basement space to meet all mitigation requirements outlined by the environmental firm that evaluated the space.

The overall emergency funding request was for over $600,000, and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has approved Manson for the entire project. No district funding was included in the grant application.

The project will begin this spring. The goal is to have the basement space available and ready for staff and students at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

“This funding benefits students, staff, and our taxpayers and will allow us to make the changes needed to safely use this space for years to come,” Superintendent Tabatha Mires said.
