NCW Libraries and Link Transit invite families to ‘Link the Libraries’ this summer

WENATCHEE — NCW Libraries and Link Transit are partnering on a new summer program designed to encourage families to explore local libraries by bus while earning prizes along the way.

The “Link the Libraries Passport” program launches June 1 and runs through Aug. 31, inviting participants to ride Link Transit buses to library branches across Chelan and Douglas counties.

Participants can pick up free passports at Columbia Station, any participating NCW Libraries branch, or the library bookmobile. Riders earn stamps by visiting library locations, with prizes available as they collect more stops throughout the summer.

“We want people to discover that getting to the library is part of the fun,” NCW Libraries Communications Manager Amanda Brack said in a news release. “Whether you’re a frequent rider or hopping on the bus for the first time, this passport is your ticket to a summer full of stories and adventure.”

The program includes nine participating libraries in Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Peshastin, Leavenworth, Entiat, Chelan, Manson, and Waterville.

According to organizers, all participating locations are accessible by existing Link Transit routes, with buses running every 30 minutes to one hour depending on location.

“Link Transit exists to connect people to the places and opportunities that matter most in our community,” Link Transit Marketing Manager Jennifer Dolge said. “Partnering with NCW Libraries is a natural fit. We’re excited to help riders of all ages discover that the bus is a great way to get to their next great read.”

The passports also include route and stop information, activity pages, tips for first-time riders, and information about Link Transit’s Travel Training Program, which offers one-on-one assistance for new riders learning to use the transit system independently.

The program is free and open to all ages.
