Nyce wins Lake Chelan Men’s Golf President’s Cup, finishes undefeated

CHELAN — The Lake Chelan Men’s Golf Association concluded its annual President’s Cup Double Elimination Match Play Tournament in August, recognizing the top six finishers for their performance over the summer-long competition.

The tournament began in May with 34 club members competing in head-to-head match play. Chelan Mayor Erin McCardle attended the awards ceremony to present the honors.

Jay Nyce claimed the championship title, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament. In recognition of his win, the Chelan Golf Course was unofficially renamed “Nyce Golf Course” for the day on Aug. 13.

Second place went to Tom Fagerholm, who advanced to the final by winning five matches in the loser’s bracket to face Nyce for the championship. Tom Christopherson placed third, followed by Dan Dedo in fourth. Tying for fifth place were Andy Cervarich and Cliff House.

The association thanked the Chelan Valley community, local organizations and individuals for contributing to its student scholarship fundraising. Proceeds from the club’s annual Apple Cup Tournament in July, combined with donations, provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Chelan and Manson for college or trade school expenses. The club also offers financial support to the boys’ and girls’ golf teams at both schools to cover unfunded costs.
