CHELAN — Local artist Ron McGaughey will showcase 30 original landscape paintings celebrating the Chelan Butte during a summer exhibition at Vogue Coffee Bar in Chelan.

The exhibit, titled Our Beautiful Butte, will be on display from June 18 through Aug. 1. A public reception is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, at 4:30 p.m.

The collection features paintings depicting views of and from the Chelan Butte, a prominent landmark overlooking the Lake Chelan Valley. Proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to the Chelan Basin Conservancy to support its efforts to preserve the butte.

McGaughey studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and the Burnley School of Professional Art in Seattle. He is a current member of the Northwest Figurative Artist Alliance. His work is included in both private and public collections.

This month, one of McGaughey’s paintings, depicting Whitestone Rock on Lake Roosevelt, was installed in the Washington State Governor’s Mansion.

In addition to his work as an artist, McGaughey serves as director of the Lake Chelan Museum.

Ron said that his hope is to present the allure of the butte as a visual landmark and asset to our community that many in the valley would like to see stay beautiful.

The exhibit aims to highlight the scenic and cultural significance of the Chelan Butte while raising funds to support conservation efforts in the region.
