CHELAN — A second person has turned himself in to authorities in connection with the Jan. 23 downtown Chelan shooting that left a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

According to criminal defense attorney Ronnie Rae, who says he represents the teen, a 17-year-old male surrendered himself voluntarily on the afternoon of February 4 at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with the incident.

Rae said the teen admits no wrongdoing and simply wanted to appear before law enforcement due to the warrant for his arrest.

The original investigation began late the night of Jan. 23, when deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of East Woodin Avenue and located an adult male victim with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Lake Chelan Hospital in stable condition.

In the initial phase of the investigation, 18-year-old Hector Valencia-Farias of Manson was identified and apprehended by deputies near Woodin Avenue after fleeing on foot. He was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on charges including first-degree assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Additional details, including any potential formal charges against the teen, are expected to be released through court filings in the coming days.
