Summer of Love event raises funds for Chelan Valley Community Nurse Program

Posted

CHELAN - Watson’s Alpenhorn Outback Café hosted the Tie-Dye, Woodstock-themed fundraiser for the Chelan Valley Community Nurse (CVCN) program on Saturday, August 19.  The Watson family has generously supported the fundraising event since 2016, helping local charitable agencies raise operating monies.  Four local bands provided music from the 1960’s and more, including Space For Rent, The B Side, Brittany Jean and Waterdog.  Volunteers flipped burgers, ran a raffle table filled with items donated by local businesses and joined in the dancing.  Costume contest winners received prizes, also donated by Chelan Businesses.  The event was once again emceed by Norm Manly of Manson, who sported wig, headband and tie-dyed T-shirt and danced with the best of them. A beautiful, hand-crafted wooden American flag created and donated by local artist Gary Rittenmeyer, was displayed at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce for several weeks before finding its silent auction home at the Summer of Love event.

All of the volunteers wish to thank the generous community partners who helped to make this event fun and successful!  Some of our donors include but are not limited to:  Bub Watson, Campbell’s Lodge, Bear Foods, Cairdeas Winery, 12 Tribes Casino, Chelan Market, Even Keel Roadhouse, Willow, Sally Sue Boullion, PC Help, Lakeview Drive-in, CJ’s Grill, Tipsy Canyon, Benson’s Winery, One Wines, Alta Cellars, Culinary Apple, CSR Sandidge, West Side Pizza, Bill and Donna Sibbers, Michael Gardner and Larry Youngblood.

The Chelan Valley Community Nurse program is a free program dedicated to keeping Seniors and other, vulnerable persons in their Chelan Valley homes as long as safely possible.  This opportunity is of great benefit to the elderly and frail, as well as their families, who may not live within the Chelan Valley, but who have concerns about parents or grandparents and need a nurse to check on them.  CVCN offers in-home Blood Pressure checks, Medication and Treatment Education, especially post Hospital Discharge, as well as Education and Management Assistance with new or chronic conditions.  CVCN also provides referrals to Physicians, Community Resources and Support Services for both Clients and their Families.

Services provided by the Chelan Valley Community Nurse are free and do not require doctor’s orders or insurance.  This agency operates under the 501(C)3 of the Lake Chelan Senior Center and is entirely funded by Grants and Donations.  Financial Contributions and Support are greatly appreciated.
